Peter Dinklage Is Out Here Defending The Game Of Thrones Finale

Five years ago Game of ThronesThe current hot topic of Westeros is George RR Martin’s beef The House of the Beast second season-again Thrones has become a show that many people remember fondly for one big black mark: basically the entire eighth season, held back by that disappointing series finale. Although Peter Dinklage, the most awarded star of the show (including four Emmys and a Golden Globe), is happy. Thrones it ended when it happened, he didn’t have a problem sticking by saying he was what you like the conclusion. You really like it!

Speaking to Rolling Stone, he offered a good defense of his take. “I love the ending! You don’t have to agree with me,” he said. “What would you say if I said, ‘Yes, I agree.’ I hated the ending. The whole of last season was horrible’? I mean, that would always be worse than if I said I liked it, I did. I can’t speak for someone else’s point of view, and that’s what makes what we do fun, because everyone has different opinions and everyone gets to write about it and talk about it and drink about it and argue about it. Good. I mean, I think it means you’re doing something right.”

In an interview, Dinklage weighed in on what it’s like to still be asked about something that’s been around for years (“It would be really hard if I wasn’t proud of that show, but I’m proud of it. That show. I love that character”) and what it was like to leave a popular and high-profile series. “It was sad [when Game of Thrones ended]but I didn’t really have to worry, because at that point we were all ready to move on … creatively, it was a good time for everyone to walk away from it.”

Rolling Stone also teased Dinklage about another project fans have been dying to get an update on: A venomous avenger. Although the star has no new ideas that the movie—which was screened at a few festivals in 2023 and then disappeared from view—can get a release (“it’s out of my hands… do it”), he hasn’t given up hope that it will happen.

“It’s a very good movie. I saw a bad cut. I absolutely loved it. It’s very original, even if it revolves around a classic ’80s movie. It’s very fun and extremely violent … You work hard on something, especially with good friends, and you don’t know what the end of it will be. But I think you should continue. I hope it gets released. I hope so.”
