McCumby Predicts Emergence of “Primadonna” Plant.
Trevor McCumby says Caleb Plant is a “primadonna” and a “cry baby” for his “manipulative” account of how he called him in their fight Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. McCumby reveals that Plant chose him to fight in three or four. He wanted her.

McCumby (28-0, 21 KOs) feels that former IBF super middleweight champion Plant (22-2, 13 KOs) is giving up, and thinks he will stop him when the going gets tough in their 12-round contest. interim WBA 168-lb title.
McCumby’s comments about quitting may have been based on how Plant started talking to Canelo in the later rounds of their fight in November 2021. It sounded like Plant was trying to befriend him to loosen him up and show him favor. Canelo wasn’t going to knock Plant out in the 11th round.
Hopefully, Plant won’t act when they face the scale because it would be bad if he or McCumby get axed before their fight on Saturday night. Plant has been on a bit of a spree lately, sounding like he wants to fight different people.
McCumby thinks Plant has anger issues, and suspects that the millions he made from his fight with Canelo Alvarez gave him a distorted view of his talent.
The 14-year champion McCumby is finally getting a chance at an important fight, and he plans to take full advantage of it by knocking out Plant in the eighth or ninth round.
“I’ve been looking for an opportunity my whole career. It didn’t happen in the first half of my career. Now I get it,” Trevor McCumby told the media, talking about finally getting an important fight in his 14th year as champion.
“I called three or four other names in that video call. So, I think Caleb is a bit delusional. He creates a story in his head that I am a bad person and that I should call him. I called him, but you chose to fight me. I am not in that position. You know that.
“He will keep crying about fighting me. He is the one who chose me. He had four other names. He chose me. So, I don’t know,” McCumby said of Plant.
Ironically, Plant made a big deal of fighting him. He should just tell the media that he chose McCumby because no one would hold that against him. It’s not like Plant always fights. He stopped fighting a lot after getting the Canelo fight.
Some people believe that the $10 million that Plant got from the Canelo fight killed his ambition, and he lacks the hunger he had before he got rich.
“Eight or nine,” McCumby said about when he would stop Plant. “He is a crybaby. She is a prima donna. That’s why I trained hard in this camp. You’ll see what I bring on Saturday,” McCumby said when asked if he thought Plant had ignored him.
If McCumby takes out Plant, that might be on him because he’ll have to give up his shallow dream of getting a rematch against Canelo. If we assume that Plant takes another year and a half after the loss, he would not be enough after returning in 2026.
“I keep saying I will break his will. I come with his heart. I want him to feel the same way about Canelo. ‘I’m going to lie down because I’m tired, and this is very difficult.’ And, David [Benavidez],” McCumby said of Plant.
It seems that Plant gave up physically and mentally in both fights. He was good for six rounds, though, but man, he had nothing left after the halfway point.
“I’m going to use my size, my body, and let him know who’s boss,” McCumby said of his plans to defeat Plant.
We’ve seen in Plant’s fights against Canelo, David Benavidez, and Jose Uzcategui that he’s out of breath after six rounds. The plant is what you would call a six-round fighter.
He looks like gold for six rounds, but he’s just an average Joe in the second half of his fights. It’s like taking Superman and putting a bunch of kryptonite in front of him. The plant is empty after six rounds and falls apart quickly.
