One of our favorite yoga and pilates workout apps, Alo Moves, is coming to VR in Meta Quest 3. Priced at $69 per year, Alo Moves XR is set to be the first fitness app on the platform to feature volumetric 3D-capture. classes allow for more immersion.
The application uses a 3D volumetric method to capture classes from all angles, so that “users can interact with their 3D teachers, reposition them and view every angle with a full 360-degree view, helping complete form and techniques movement,” the company wrote. At the same time, you can choose from a variety of beautiful destinations including Spain, Norway and Thailand. Basically, the app uses room mapping and object detection of your virtual environment to make sure you don’t bump into anything.
Alo Moves XR presents 32 classes across yoga, pilates and mindfulness with some of its famous instructors including yoga teacher Ashley Galvin and pilates expert Bianca Wise. The app promises a structured release schedule with four to five mixed reality yoga and pilates classes added monthly, as well as weekly meditation and sound bath sessions. It also offers features such as class history tracking, class feedback and valuable badges.
Later this year, Alo Moves will introduce new instructors and expand offerings with 20+ minute yoga sessions, quick toning/sculpting classes, yoga basics, evening reset stretches, breathwork and more.
The company promises an experience that “feels very personal,” according to its press release. It seems like a smart way to use virtual reality (or augmented reality as Meta would like to call it), especially since it allows you to study the teacher’s approach from every angle. That would put it above other Meta fitness apps like Oh Shape and Les Mills Bodycombat.
Alo Moves XR will cost $10 a month or $69 a year, but buyers of the Alo Moves x Meta Quest bundle can grab it for $49 a year. If you already have an Alo Moves subscription, you can add Alo Moves XR for $20 per year.
