Devin Haney Sues Ryan Garcia, But He Still Wants a Rematch

It is reported that Devin Haney filed a lawsuit against Ryan Garcia regarding his drug test for their fight last April in New York. Haney is seeking punitive damages.

According to Boxing Scene, the lawsuit alleges that Ryan committed “battery, fraud, and unjust enrichment.” Also, Haney’s defeat resulted in a loss of reputation and future profits. The loss of reputation could result in Haney losing millions.

It’s clear that Haney is not viewed the same way by the fans after his loss. He has been ridiculed and looked upon as damaged goods, and someone who was never that good in the first place.

It is not clear whether the lawsuit will succeed or not, and whether it will bring in the kind of money Haney would have received if he had not been convicted. In order to continue to excel at the end of Haney’s remaining career, he has to beat top guys, and it’s questionable if he can based on that performance.

Haney Wants To Get Back With Ryan: Will He Get It?

Interestingly, Haney is still seeking a rematch despite the lawsuit. That might not work, but we’ll see. Will Ryan fight Haney again after this? There will be a lot of money for Ryan to fight Haney again, but if he is afraid of being sued for different things afterwards, he may be reluctant to do so. If you’re Ryan Garcia, you say, ‘Put the charge down, I’ll give you a rematch. Otherwise, there is no second fight.’

That will mean that Haney’s current case will bring him down rather than bring him the wealth that a rematch will bring.

Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) tested positive for the banned substance, Ostarine, after defeating Haney via a 12-round majority decision at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The result was later overturned, and the New York State Athletic Commission ruled a no contest, and Ryan was suspended and fined. However, many fans still consider Haney a loser.

Haney’s popularity with many fans on social media has already taken a hit from that loss, which they see as having been exposed. If Haney successfully sues Garcia, will he be interested in fighting him again if he thinks he can go to court again if things don’t go his way?
