8BitDo’s latest mod kit will make your old GameCube controller wireless and Switch compatible
A new, $26 non-retailer from 8BitDo can turn your old GameCube controller into a wireless Bluetooth device that works with the Nintendo Switch and Android. It will also work with the original GameCube, but for that, you’ll have to shell out $26. The mod kit comes with Hall Effect joysticks, a trigger pack and a 300mAh rechargeable battery, which 8BitDo says should get you around 6 hours of playtime. Pre-orders for the kit are now open, and will ship on September 25th.

There are many adapters on the market that will allow you to use a real wired GameCube controller with the Switch, including the 8BitDo adapter and the official one from Nintendo, but the mod kit cuts out the middleman to bring a completely wireless Bluetooth connection. All you have to do is open the controller and swap the old PCB with the new one.
