Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus 8-core Brings Microsoft Copilot+ to Premium PC Laptops
Qualcomm introduced the program Snapdragon X Plus 8-core the processor in the IFA 2024 Berlin, Germany.
The goal is to bring the AI features introduced with the previously announced, more expensive, Snapdragon X processors for affordable laptops in the $700-$900 range.
As seen in the specification, the NPU (Neural Processing Unit, or AI processor) works like no other. SnapDragon X chips are already available. This is empowering Microsoft Copilot+ to run faster and more efficiently on future laptops. In fact, Acer, ASUS, Dell Technologies, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung should soon announce Snapdragon X Plus 8-core products.
The performance of the GPU (graphics processor) is significantly lower than in the high-end Snapdragon X processors with a higher number of cores (see image below). As such, this product is aimed at the production and entertainment market, where 3D images and video editing are used extensively.
It can power up to three external monitors for productivity applications, including video conferencing. Entertainment on the go should also be a breeze, and thanks to the extreme efficiency of the Qualcomm platform, you can watch movies for long hours.
Thanks to its smartphone business, Qualcomm can offer the best wireless connectivity in the industry, either with 5G, WiFi 7, or both. Not only that but users can also benefit from unknown features like high-quality audio with Snapdragon Sound or excellent camera and video software inherited from advanced smartphone platforms.
Earlier we attended the San Francisco press event where Qualcomm introduced the super powerful Snapdragon X Elite. Since then, Qualcomm and its partners have continued to release innovative PC products that are always connected at affordable prices.
