You can do a lot more with Google on the web than you might realize—as well as using search (now with more AI), you can run conversions and calculations, flip a coin and roll an estate, find descriptions, look up places. on maps, and much more. You can do something else you probably haven’t: Create a watch list of movies and TV shows.
Of course, there are many places where you can keep a list like this, but there is something very convenient about being able to log your favorite movies and shows, as you browse them online. In addition, your watch list is synced across any device you can access from Google and Google TV.
Add movies and shows
Adding movies and TV shows to your Google Watchlist is easy—open a browser tab, head to Google, make sure you’re signed in, and check something out. The search engine is smart enough to recognize it when you search for a movie or show and will display a You want to watch link in the right panel. Click this to save the title to your watch list.
There’s a lot to explore on these screens, and Google has been building out options besides movies and TV shows for a few years. You should see the ratings released on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes and details on where the content can be streamed—click Organize services to tell Google more about the services (like Netflix and Prime Video) you subscribe to.
To remove something from your watch list, just click You want to watch and to unselect it. There is also You’re already watching tag, but as far as we know, this doesn’t really do much if you’re selective—there’s nowhere inside Google to see the movies and shows you’ve marked as watched. You can even have these articles marked as such You want to watch again You’re already watching simultaneously.
If you’re looking for something other than a movie or TV show—like “Empire of the Sun” or “Rounders,” for example—you may need to refine your search a bit. Try adding “movie” or “TV show” after your search query if Google doesn’t immediately understand what you’re looking for, or look at the link above the results to redirect you to the correct page.
Finding your watch list
Although Google doesn’t keep a list of what you’re watching anywhere, you can always bring a list of what you want to watch: Go to the Google search box wherever you can, whether it’s on the web or on your home screen. of Android device or anywhere else. As long as you’re signed in to your Google account, you can start searching for “my watchlist.”
This will then give you a list of everything you have previously saved in Google search results. However, there’s not much you can do with a list other than viewing it—you can’t mark anything as viewed here, for example, and you can’t leave ratings the way you can on something like Letterboxd.
You can click or tap on a specific title to return to the Google search result for that movie or TV show, along with ratings and places to watch it.. If you are watching something, you can click “I want to watch” to deselect it. There is also a People search again box, which may be useful if you are looking for recommendations.
This watch list is especially useful if you have a television with Google TV on it or Chromecast with Google TV (or maybe your eye is on Google TV Streamer). Your watch list will be synced and appear here, under the The library title at the top of the interface, and connects directly to any streaming services you have installed.
