Non-subscribers who open the Apple Music app on a new iPhone or iPad often see an offer for a free month of the service. The trial was three times longer, but Apple quietly dropped it in early 2022. But now until September 23, anyone new to Apple’s music streaming service will be able to try it for free for three months. Agreement applies only to first-time subscribers; if you haven’t succumbed to the temptation of a music app, now is as good a time as any to check it out. Just remember that the service will automatically renew at $11 per month after the trial ends. Make sure to cancel if you don’t want to pay.

Apple Music has a lot to offer. It’s currently our top recommendation in our guide to the best music streaming services. We like its way of recommendations, we estimate a good number of playlists for programming and channels with algorithmic suggestions. Every song is available in CD quality or better streaming and lossless doesn’t cost extra.
For computer-curated listening, there’s a “Discovery Channel” that helps you discover new music by playing songs you’ve never streamed before, from artists you know and others the algorithm thinks you’ll like. And, in my experience, saying, “Hey Siri, play Apple Music for me,” produces a nice mix of things that I like that are novel enough to be interesting, but not so familiar that I’m sick of hearing them.
There are a few caveats to be aware of about the service: It’s strictly for Apple devices, although it’s also available for Android devices. You won’t find podcasts on Apple Music. And, apart from this deal, there is no free version of Apple Music. Pay your $11 monthly or listen elsewhere.
Regarding the deal, we’ll reiterate that it’s only for new subscribers – previous subscribers and even those who previously accessed Apple Music through the family plan are not eligible.
