Garcia Tells Haney: “No Reunion, Live the Nightmare”

Ryan Garcia closed the door on a rematch with Devin Haney after watching his interview today. Haney set the conditions for the second war, saying it must be according to his terms. Garcia says Haney will have to “live that nightmare” from their fight last April, which Devin lost.
If Devin can’t get a repeat, so be it forever haunted remembering that terrible night and I remember it every day, even in old age. That would be pure torture. You will be like a military veteran who has flashbacks from the war and can’t let go.
Ryan is referring to the left hook he used to knock Haney down six times in the fight, even though the referee only counted three. The referee allowed three more in the seventh round.
That’s a huge setback for Haney, who lost the rematch with Ryan because it would have been a big pay day. He won’t see that kind of money against anyone else, and his career could be over soon if he faces someone good.
With all that sweet money from the feud with Ryan, Haney and his father, Bill, would have moved ‘Platinum Triangle’ in Los Angeles, you buy a beautiful mansion in Beverly Hills, Holmby Hills, or Bell Air. Diddy has a big house in Holmby Hills.
During an interview with Andre Ward today, former two-division world champion Haney looked mentally broken again close to tears as he recounts the events of his loss of Ryan in Brooklyn, New York.
If you had any doubts about whether Haney got over that loss, that interview showed that he is still in a bad mood and can’t let go of what happened to him. Promoter Eddie Hearn was right. Haney looks broken emotionally and possibly physically. We won’t know that until he fights again.
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) tried to explain away the loss, saying he did everything right, but Garcia being on PEDs made him better. He sounded like a textbook example of a fighter in denial, still trying to understand what happened to him and using defenses to distance himself from facing the painful truth.
“I compete. Everything should be fine. Everything has to go my way,” said Devin Haney on the All the Smoke Fight channel about a possible rematch with Ryan Garcia. “I tried to do it on your terms.”

It must be exhausting trying to twist the truth just to avoid admitting defeat. You know, not everyone gets a cup of participation in life. Maybe if you spent half the energy on self-improvement that you do on excuses, you’d actually get somewhere. But hey, denial is a skill and, I…
