John Cassady, the multi-Eisner Award-winning comedian, has died at the age of 52.
It is said that he was admitted to the ICU at Mount Sinai West Hospital in New York last week, Cassady’s sister, Robin, confirmed yesterday on social media that “his little brother John passed away at 6:51 pm Texas time. Please keep me and my mother in your prayers.β
One of the most prominent comedians of the 21st century, Cassady will forever be remembered for his time as a performer in the. The amazing X-Men. Along with writer Joss Whedon, Cassaday’s reimagining of the X-Men after-New X-Men in the world from 2004 to 2008 It’s surprising was one of Marvel’s best books at the time, giving X-Fans many amazing moments (especially with Cyclops, Cassaday does an amazing job of showing how powerful Scott can be when unleashed, like in his iconic panels of Cyclops leveling the Sentinel The amazing X-Men #8), and to define the new look of Marvel’s transformations in the mid-Aughts. Recently, Cassaday relaunched Marvel’s star Wars comic strip alongside Jason Aaron in January 2015, helping to rehabilitate the recently relaunched series star Wars It’s canon as he helped show the adventures of Luke, Leia, and Han between the events of A New Hope again The Empire Strikes Back.
Cassady’s extensive body of work includes the likes of Captain America and Jeph Loeb and John Neiy Reiber, editors The planet and Warren Ellis, I am Legion and Fabien Nury and They are desperate and Jeff Mariotte. Cassaday’s writing credits include work Hellboy: Weird Tales, Rocketeer Adventures, Bela Lugosi: Tales from the Grave, Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream, The Union Jack and the X-Men: Alpha Flight. Not limited to comedies, Cassady also directed an episode of the sci-fi series, A doll’s houseappeared as an actor in the 2012 horror film The House on the Hilland served as concept artist for Zack Snyder’s film adaptation They don’t wait.
Beloved in the industry, Cassady’s death immediately prompted an outpouring of words from some of the top comic talents, including Mark Waid, Ben Templesmith, Scott Snyder, Declan Shalvey, Charles Soule, Heather Antos, Dean Haspiel, Jimmy Palmiotti, JH Williams III, Andy.
