Three people were killed during an attack on the West Bank-Jordan border, Israeli officials said

Three people were killed during an attack on the border between Jordan and the West Bank, Israeli officials said.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said three Israeli citizens were killed in a shooting incident across the Allenby Bridge.
The attacker approached the area on the Jordanian side in a truck, then got out and opened fire, the IDF said.
The soldiers “eliminated” the gunman and the IDF is checking the truck for signs of explosives, the statement said.
Doctors said the three victims were men in their 50s, according to Israeli media.
Jordan says it has closed its side of the border and is investigating the incident, which took place in an area controlled by Israel where Jordanian vehicles were unloading goods entering the West Bank.
The crossing, also known as the King Hussein Bridge, is halfway between Amman and Jerusalem and is the only official crossing between the West Bank and Jordan.
It is also the only point of entry into the West Bank that does not go through Israel.
The Ministry of Health in Palestine says that more than 600 Palestinians have been killed in violence in the West Bank since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 and the subsequent war in Gaza.
Last week, the Israeli army withdrew from the city of Jenin and the refugee camp – an area in the West Bank – after a major nine-day operation there. The area is a military base and has a population of about 60,000.
Israel says it is trying to stop deadly Palestinian attacks on Israel in the West Bank and Israel, and is fighting terrorism.
