Hawaii’s Ben Zeigler-Namoa played for Orleans this summer (Aaron Fitt)

It was a trying summer for the Orleans Firebirds, who went 15-25 to finish fourth in the East Division – but Orleans hung on hard after a 5-15 start, going 10-10 to make the playoffs. There were plenty of individual bright spots, highlighted by righthander Itsuki Takemoto (Hawaii) winning the league’s Whitehouse Outstanding Pitcher Award. Itsuki led a team of six Firebirds who made a big play, as he was joined by fellow righties Callan Fang and Cody Bowker and infielders Hudson Shupe and Jack Gurevitch and outfielder Ben Zeigler-Namoa.
