With a 4-3 victory over Bourne in game three of the Cape Cod League Championship Series, Harwich secured its sixth league championship and first since 2011. It is also the third championship for manager Steve Englert, who has been with the team since 2003.
However, getting to that point was not easy. The Mariners went 16-24 in the regular season, which cost them a few more losses and missed the postseason entirely. Sometime in mid-July they lost nine games in a row and 13 of 14, and it took until July 25 for the team’s first home run.[…]
