For Eye Protection: Honor to Unveil AI Defocus Display Tech on Magic V3 at IFA 2024

INFANT it’s just around the corner, too RESPECT will present the future HONOR Magic V3which will have industry first AI Defocus display technology designed to reduce eye strain and myopia. This new technology balances traditional optical methods with AI algorithms, adding defocus signals to the screen layers to improve eye protection. In addition, the Magic V3 will feature high-performance PWM dimming to reduce screen flickering, which shows HONOR’s commitment to the health of users.

AI Defocus technology, inspired by the “defocus incorporated multiple segments” (DIMS) used in special glasses, aims to address the global rise of myopia. Lab tests show that AI Defocus can reduce work-induced temporary myopia by an average of 13° and increase central choroid thickness after just 25 minutes of screen time.

Currently, AI Defocus works with apps like YouTube and Amazon Kindle, with plans to expand support for other apps in the future. HONOR has partnered with tech YouTuber Phonebuff to demonstrate this technology, offering a preview of HONOR Magic V3Front display improvements launched globally at IFA 2024.

Making assistive technology more accessible

The brand has announced the global rollout of its intent-based eye tracking technology, which enables users to control their smartphones using only their eyes. This feature, first introduced earlier this year, will be available on devices such as the HONOR Magic6 Pro from August 27. HONOR tests its strength Multimodal AI techincluding investment in non-invasive brain-computer interface (BCI) technology, with the aim of making assistive technology more accessible.
