For the second time in three years the Kalamazoo Growlers won the Northwoods League championship, defeating the La Crosse Loggers 8-7 in a contest that went 14 innings and included a two-hour rain delay. The Growler’s strength was their pitching staff that boasted the second best cumulative ERA (4.15) of any team in the Northwoods League during the regular season.
The crown jewel of their staff was the league’s Pitcher of the Year, Indiana lefty Ryan Kraft, who won the NWL with 89 strikeouts and went 7-2 overall.[…]
