Grand Slam career of Danielle Collins it is over, but his work continues.
After falling from my countryman Caroline Dolehide at Louis Armstrong Stadium, the 30-year-old told the media that he plans to finish the season – if his body allows him.
“I’m still playing all year, or at least that’s the plan right now,” he said after falling to Dolehide, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4. “You never know about the challenges of life and, you know, the things of life. We will see. But yeah, I was just upset that I couldn’t play my best tennis. I was everywhere with my guns. I feel like my time was less, and energy and this and that.”
Collins dropped to 7-9 in US Open lifetime. He did not make it past the round of 16, which he did in 2022.
Collins said he was not feeling refreshed as he entered the tournament at Flushing Meadows. It proved to be a stretch as he dropped a set lead and committed 41 unforced errors across the last two sets (49 in total, compared to 48 winners).
Of course there was an event ready for Danielle Collins but she was leaving the court so fast that Stacey Allaster couldn’t even give her flowers 👀 pic.twitter.com/m7h3LljwSy

“No one out there is immune to having bad days,” she said. “I’ve been through it, you know, since the Olympics, so it was tough.”
Collins did not have a post-match event, because he asked the tournament to allow him to do something in private. He’s also in the double draw, but don’t expect a presentation after that, either.
“I am still involved, and I have asked that there be no presentations in court,” he said. “I am not a person who likes to celebrate my achievements. “I’ve struggled with guilt, about success, and I have to work on that. So I’m not good, honestly, for having a moment about me. I would just like to do something like that maybe privately.
But I feel that I have enough attention to last me the rest of my life.”
