What’s worse than M3GAN, a killer toy robot that protects children with deadly rage? What about an android who likes to die? (And no, this is not a Megan Fox movie Humility (maybe you heard last week.)
Blumhouse has announced its plans for a spinoff film called The Soulm8te back in June, and Deadline reports that the movie now has its lead actress in Lily Sullivan. They are very popular The Bad Dead Rise again The Monoliththe Australian star will play an unnamed android bought by a widower following the death of his wife. As man and machine get closer, things start going south quickly for the man and everyone involved. At the time of writing, Sullivan is the only role locked, and a production date for the film has not been set.
Directed by You are not my Mother Kate Dolan, The Soulm8te It was previously described as being in the house music scene from way back in the ’90s. The first one M3GAN the movie had thoughts on its head about toys and technology, so it will be interesting to see if this movie deals with the ways technology has changed the way relationships work these days. Per BloodyDisgusting, Dolan recently called it “an exploration of relationships and loneliness. Despite technological advances, there are enduring human realities that we cannot escape, and I look forward to delving deeper into that.”
In the near future, this M3GAN Cinematic Universe will continue with it M3GAN 2.0, it’s due out in June 2025. Production started back in July, and we’ll no doubt get a tease of what that mechanical demon is up to soon. Knowing how Blumhouse works, The Soulm8te it’s just the beginning: there are more technological horrors waiting to be discovered in this franchise in the coming years.
