Fourth seeds Hubert Hurkacz and Thanasi Kokkinakis will have to wait to start their second round match at the Omnium Banque National presented par Rogers, when Thursday’s rain delayed the evening session.
The 27-year-old Pole and Kokkinakis warmed up for their fourth Lexus ATP Head2Head meeting, but the rain fell just before the start of the match. The players waited for a while on the court before entering the locker room.
Hurkacz, who will be competing for the first time since knee surgery after Wimbledon, gave the ballkid an unforgettable memory when he invited him to share an umbrella. World No. 6 in the PIF ATP Rankings asked ballkid questions like, ‘Do you play tennis? Play tournaments?’
On Court Rogers, Arthur Rinderknech led Flavio Cobolli 3-0, 15/15 and the Italian was serving when the match was suspended.
