New York, Jan 27 (IPS) – As we are remembered by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On January 20, 2025 – a date written by its newly elected president – we honor the legacy of that civil rights leader in his powerful words: “We are facing a serious emergency now. “
These words allow deeply as we face the ongoing part of supporting hope in Haiti and regain our pride as the first Black Republic to achieve freedom, he succeeded.
How amazing that today, we – the descendants of those who fought for freedom – are laughed at in a country that proclaims itself “the land of the free.” We live in fear of deportation, our crime is our only crime and we are deported from our country in unbearable conditions. These conditions have been created, in large part, by decades of illegal foreign intervention and interference.
Since the massive military intervention in 1994, which was intended to support democracy, we have seen the disbandment of the Haitian military and the return of order to our country. For the past 30 years, we have endured chaos and chaos without Haiti’s dysfunctional leadership.
Unless Haiti is allowed to charge its own course, more “aid” given in the name of compassion will only promote the root causes of our problems, cultivating another generation of Haitian youth.
Recent statements by Senator Rubio, during his confirmation hearing as Secretary of State, praising the deployment of more troops from Kenya and El Salvador, have encouraged hope for meaningful change. These actions seem to perpetuate the same failed policies that prioritize foreign-led solutions by empowering the Haitian people to regain control of their future.
Apart from this, we take a moment to extend our prayers and best wishes to Mr. Trump as he assumes the role of leader of the free world. While his previous rhetoric may have shown ignorance about us, we remain hopeful that he will prioritize the common interests of our two nations.
We hope that his management will support you The future we want included in Ayiti 2030 Inindra Initiative as a way to quick order and stability in our country.
A call to action
We encourage all members of the Haitian community and their friends to contact their elected representatives and support representatives The Future We Want: The AIYI 2030 Agenda Initiative.
The Future We Want:
- 1. Haited Haiti – obtained by the mandate of a change of government that includes all groups and the nation without outside interference. 2. A country of institutions – guided by a reformed government dedicated to electoral reforms, to ensure that future elections reflect the true will of the people and inspire confidence in all participants. 3. A country of jobs – issued by a transitional government that includes Haitian resources abroad that will launch a major intervention effort – not foreign armed intervention focused on strong economic penetration.
The world should know that, as a people who have loved freedom as deeply as Americans, we are perfectly capable of building our nation without interference from other countries.
Haiti will rise again.
