Dan Da Dan’s first season 2 look is more dangerous than fun

The first (and best) season of Dan Da Dan ended a few days ago, and it didn’t take long for Science Saru to announce that a second season would be produced. This is good news, but good news? Jump Festa gave the first glimpse of what’s to come for Momo, Okarun, and all the other buds.

Last time we saw you, the show was in the early stages of the “Cursed House” arc, and we saw the two take a trip with Momo’s childhood friend Jiji to exorcise the evil spirit from her house. While they were waiting for it to appear, it turned out that they were not looking at the situation well: Jiji and Okarun found a secret room in the house full of talismans, while Momo was attacked by a group of men. The children may have Turbo Granny with them, but they may be more vulnerable than previous threats such as aliens and Acro-Silky. and that doesn’t even touch on “Avatar of Hate’s” terrifying tease of a desire to wipe out humanity, and a particular interest in young Jiji.

This is Dan Da’s place has always been a mix of supernatural horror comedies, and this trailer leans heavily into the latter. You know how some TV or movie writers will sometimes call their sequel darker than the original? This type is like that; where the first season’s trailers let you know you were in for a treat, this one wants you to fear the gang as they figure out what’s going on and try to complete their mission. A brief glimpse of the arc’s big bad, “Avatar of Hate,” gives off a scarier vibe than Turbo Granny’s stance, and it looks like things are about to escalate in some pretty big ways.

Why does the Avatar want to destroy humanity, and what does Jiji have to do with those plans? When will we find out Dan Da Dan returns to Netflix and Crunchyroll in July 2025.
