A car plowed into a crowd at a Christmas market in eastern Germany, local media reported.
At least one person died and several others were injured in the incident in Magdeburg, according to German public broadcaster MDR.
The suspected driver of the car has also been arrested, said MDR, quoting a government spokesperson.
Video on social media shows dozens of people lying on the ground and emergency services in attendance.
A “major police operation” is underway and the market was closed, according to local authorities.
