Child dies after stabbing at Croatian primary school

A seven-year-old child died and other children were injured during a stabbing at a primary school in Croatia.

The country’s health minister said that a teacher was also injured in a knife attack in Zagreb on Friday. The suspect accused of the attack, a 19-year-old male, who was a student, was arrested at the scene, local media reported.

Images showed police, ambulance crews and forensic teams outside the building.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said he was “shocked” by the incident at Precko Elementary School.

Two adults and five children are in hospital due to injuries, according to the health department.

Speaking to reporters outside the children’s hospital, Health Minister Irena Hrstic said the attacker entered the school before stabbing staff and students.
