Zayas – Spomer in the main event of Davis Vs. Berinchyk WBO Title Fight Card
Xander Zayas will reportedly face undefeated Slawa Spomer in a co-main event for the WBO 154-lb title on the Keyshawn Davis vs. Denys Berinchyk on Valentine’s Day, February 14 on ESPN at the Hula Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York.
A victory for Xander Zayas, 22, who was born in Puerto Rican, will force him to take on WBO junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora.
Zayas’ promoters, Top Rank, insist that he could take the WBO belt if it is released or if Fundora loses in 2025 in his next fight. They are trying to make Zaya a star as soon as they did with Keyshawn. Matching Zayas against a losing Spomer is one way to make him look good.
Xander Zayas vs. Hello Spomer
Keith Idec reports that Zayas vs. Spomer (20-0, 11 KOs) has been headlined by the Davis vs. Berinchyk.
The little-known 32-year-old German Spomer has fought in obscure territory in his native Germany against second-tier opposition throughout his six-year professional career. His opponents were unknown, and why the World Boxing Organization ranked him #11 is unclear.
Zayas (20-0, 11 KOs) was hoping to fight on the February 22 card in Riyadh after Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis turned down a fight against WBC junior middleweight champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. However, Israel Madrimov will be Ortiz Jr.’s opponent. more than Zayas.
In the main event, WBO #1 ranked lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) will challenge undefeated WBO 135-lb champion Denys Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) on the card of ESPN.
