The feud between top ten heavyweights Efe Ajagba and Martin Bakole is reportedly over as early as 2025.
Bakole-Ajagba set
Both guys are big punchers in their early 30s but haven’t been able to get title shots until now. Boxing Scene reports that the Ajagba-Bakole fight is over. Bakole, 6’6″, will be the heavy favorite against Ajagba, but that may not mean much. With the power of Ajagba, he will have a puncher’s advantage.
#1 WBA, #3 WBC, #3 WBO, #4 Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs) will be putting his top ranking on the line against 2016 Nigerian Olympian Ajagba (20-1, 14 KOs). With the #1 ranking with the World Boxing Association, Bakole doesn’t need to take a risk like this to get a title shot. He can just sit down, and eventually he’ll get a shot.
Bakole, 31, has gained a lot of attention recently for his fifth-round submission victory over America’s top bantamweight prospect, Jared Anderson, on August 3 at the Riyadh Season event at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The victory over ‘The Real Big Baby’ Anderson made Bakole very happy, as he completely eliminated him.
Ajagba has won his last five fights since losing a 10-round decision to Frank Sanchez of Cuba on October 9, 2021. He has come back from losses to defeat Guido Vianello, Joseph Goodall, Zhan Kossobutskiy, and Stephen Shaw.
