Peloton introduces a new strength training app focused on sound

Peloton continues to expand into products beyond stationary bikes and treadmills with a new strength training app called Peloton Strength+. The iOS-only app will give current and future Peloton subscribers access to audio-guided strength workouts that can be done in the gym.

The fitness company first tested a beta version of the app in September, which Peloton says includes intuitive features like custom workout bookmarking and the ability to change and reschedule moves. The final version also includes a tool to generate new workouts based on how much time you have, your experience level, or available equipment, instructional videos and “in-ear training” to keep you informed while you exercise. . Like many other fitness apps, Strength+ can also connect to the Apple Watch to display metrics like your heart rate and calories burned and lets you log weights and reps on your wrist. None of these features are too different from what you’d find in other popular apps like Fitbod or SmartGym, save for Peloton’s focus on audio and the company’s lineup of popular fitness instructors.

In the years following the pandemic, Peloton has struggled to adapt to changing demand for its subscription hardware. Not everyone wanted a Peloton Tread or Bike in their living room when the option of paying less to use it in public was available. Peloton has tried various strategies to regain its popularity since then, making it possible to access Peloton’s performance without expensive hardware, introducing a fitness tracking camera called Guide with a focus on high-intensity exercises such as Power and even selling a rowing machine. Nothing has matched the high sales the company experienced during the crisis. Selling subscriptions to Peloton’s app and Power+ seems like a viable way to grow in the inevitable future when most people don’t care about Peloton’s hardware.

Peloton Strength+ will be available for a limited time for $1 per month for the first six months. After that, a subscription to Strength+ will cost $9.99 per month. Current Peloton All Access, Guide, and App+ subscribers can use Strength+ at no additional cost.
