Former United heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, has been secretly planning a comeback at the age of 48 to challenge IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois. Klitschko has not fought since an 11th-round knockout loss to Anthony Joshua on April 29, 2017, and has given up on the idea of returning to the ring.
The Daily Mail reports that the IBF is “wary” of the idea of sanctioning the Klitschko-Dubois fight, which makes sense, given the chaos that would ensue if the fight took place.
Had the fight gone through, Klitschko would have surpassed George Foreman’s record as the oldest heavyweight champion had he won. Of course, the odds of Wladimir defeating Dubois are incredibly slim to the point of being physically impossible.
Klitschko had a constant chin problem during his career, losing by knockout to Ross Puritty, Corrie Sanders, Lamon Brewster, Tyson Fury and Joshua. He also had fitness issues, which led to him losing his fight with Purity, Joshua and Brewster.

It is believed that heavy criticism from promoter Jake Paul in the recent fight against 58-year-old Mike Tyson on November 15 contributed to the decision that the Klitschko fight should not take place.
The people who put in the money to fund the fight between Klitschko and Dubois would have been criticized relentlessly by the fans, especially if it ended in a first round knockout with Daniel hooking Wladimir.
The image of an old, wizened, gray-haired Klitschko being crushed in one round by Dubois would have led to unrelenting criticism from the moneymakers who put the fight on a circus level.
The fans would like to see these fights stopped because they are bad for the sport, they make a joke and put it in a bad light and make you look fake.
You wouldn’t have this in other sports like the NFL, NBA, or Major League Baseball [MLB]. The commissioner of those leaves will reject the idea of having a team full of senior players playing a high level team as part of league games that will count records. It can make a joke out of those sports, just like boxing.
