Gen Z Uses AI, ChatGPT at Work and Are Proud of It: Survey
Despite the majority of Gen Z thinking that their jobs could be replaced by AI in the next decade, most are still using AI to help complete office tasks – and are open to it.
A new survey released Monday by Google examined the AI habits of 1,005 full-time US information workers ages 22 to 39. Google called this group “young leaders” because they are currently in leadership positions or aspire to hold one at work. .
The survey found that 93% of Gen Z respondents from 22 to 27 years old use two or more AI tools such as ChatGPT or Google Gemini AI per week. In comparison, 79% of millennials ages 28 to 39 indicate they do the same.

AI’s writing capabilities are appealing to Gen Z and millennial workers who use it at work. 70% of survey respondents said they used AI to help write an email response, and 88% said AI could help them find the right tone when writing.
AI also reveals leadership potential and carries promise. Nearly four out of five respondents want to use AI to become better managers and lead teams better. Part says that AI has great potential to automate repetitive tasks so it can focus on strategic work.
These emerging leaders “are not just using AI as a tool for excellence, but as a way to help grow their careers,” Kim said.
While AI can help augment jobs, it also has the potential to change jobs. Another study released earlier this month by technology education firm General Assembly revealed that 62% of Gen Z believe that AI will replace their jobs within the next 10 years and a separate study by Duke University found that 61% of large firms have -US plans to use AI to automate tasks previously performed by humans within the next year.
