Shakur desperate? Stevenson Puts an Eye on Kambosos

Shakur Stevenson wants to use George Kambosos Jr as his next opponent in February after hearing that #1 WBC champion William Zepeda suffered a right injury last Saturday and will not be available for his next fight.

After losing the fight to Zepeda, Shakur wants to get a big name to agree to fight him. He was chasing the Zepeda game in a reverse role and was counting on that fight to happen. However, Zepeda’s injury took him out of the February 22nd equation.

Zepeda’s Loss, Kambosos’ Gain?

Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) is interested in a fight with former lightweight champion Kambosos (21-3, 10 KOs) and wants to know who he should contact to start negotiations. Kambosos Jr. he recently signed a promotional deal with Matchoom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn. Another of his promoters is Lou Dibella.

“Come and see me in February in Australia. Put on your seat belt. Let Zepeda be the email chump, and see me at 140. You know exactly who to contact; I’m here,” said George Kambosos Jr. in X’s system.

Kambosos has a 1-3 record in his last four fights, and would not be the right decision for Shakur to make if he wants to catch the attention of American fans. Shakur’s best fight would be Andy Cruz, Floyd Schofield, or Raymond Muratalla.

Kambosos brings PPV money from Australia, which would be less dangerous for Shakur. If the idea is for Shakur to bring money to the Aussie PPV in a fight that will allow him to showcase his skills, Kambosos will be the ticket. A fight with Cruz, Schofield or Muratalla will be dangerous, and Shakur could look bad if he runs away from one of them.

Hearn will have to agree to the idea of a fight between Shakur and Kambosos because he has mentioned that he wants George to fight IBF light welterweight champion Liam Paro if he defeats Richardson Hitchins on December 7. A match between Paro and Kambosos will bring in a lot of PPV buys in their home country of Australia, and could sell out. the field there.

Kambosos says Shakur will need to get to 140 to fight him, and he wants to vacate his WBC lightweight title. Shakur is unlikely to relinquish that belt because he needs a tool to win a unification with WBA champion Gervonta Davis.
