Top Skills to Put on Your Resume for Remote Jobs
The percentage of people working primarily from home will almost triple globally, from 10% in 2019 to 28% in 2023. Freelancing is one of the most popular vacations, with 66% of Americans indicating they plan to take it this season.
What exactly are employers looking for in remote rentals? A new study from SEO agency Search Logistics used data from LinkedIn, Upwork and Glassdoor to find the most in-demand skills among employers.
For each popular skill, the researchers calculated the percentage of demand using LinkedIn. The ratio shows how many remote jobs require a skill out of all the remote jobs available on LinkedIn.

The researchers then used the Upwork data to fill out a general job category that each skill fell under. Finally, they turned to Glassdoor data to find the average annual salary for each skill.
The emerging list of in-demand skills for the remote workforce includes interpersonal skills such as teamwork and technical skills such as Java.
“It’s no surprise that collaboration, problem solving, leadership skills and customer service are in the top 10,” said Search Logistics managing director Matthew Woodward. “These skills are useful in every industry or position you can think of, so if you’re stuck on how to improve your work performance, building your skills in any of these skills is a great place to start.”
