Amazon Red One he’s got a few holiday-themed villains on hand like evil snowmen and a winter witch named Grýla, named after a monster from Icelandic mythology. Another mythical figure who appears is Krampus, here reimagined as the adopted brother of Santa (JK Simmons) and played by. Game of Thrones’ Kristofer Hivju. But he’s not just Santa’s estranged brother: depending on how he rolls, he can be the best part of the movie yet again. hot as hell.
Speaking with Variety, Hivju, costume designer LJ Shannon, and makeup artist Joel Harlow discussed how the Krampus suit came to life. For Shannon, it was important to be attractive to someone. “Every time I make a creature, my team teases me because I say, ‘I want chicks to dig. He must burn.’ There’s something about a cute creature that you’re drawn to,” she explained. “Any villain has to be patient enough to be likable to watch, and there’s such a root part of you.” Hivju echoed that sentiment, and recalled how Shannon would ask him about the kind of butt he wanted to be with, and the time he spent making sure he came across as an interesting “demi-god” that the audience didn’t like.
At a glance, there is a lot going on The Red One’s Krampus: along with the suit, there are six horns, hands, gloves, teeth, and lenses. Harlow noted that the horns took a particularly big job: “You have to have a skull that supports those horns, which needs to blend seamlessly with the silicone skin, [also] it needs to blend seamlessly with the hair pieces that go up. ” For Hivju, the whole thing took four hours to put on—later cut to two and a half hours—in a process he likens to what Colin Farrell went through.
