15th century explorer John Cabot was born in Italy but sailed under the English flag, commanding what was thought to be the first European expedition to North America since the Vikings. In other words, this guy went around and left an impact, just like the golf development company that bears his name.
If you keep up with the game, you’ve probably heard of the Cabot collection. You may also know its origin story, which dates back to 2012 and the opening of Cabot Links, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Within four years, that flagship destination had welcomed a second course, Cabot Cliffs, which, like its sibling, made the Top 100. Product expansion had begun.
And it hasn’t slowed down. Cabot has grown into an international juggernaut, with brands stretching from Canada to the Caribbean, Scotland and beyond. This past year has been very busy. In September, three months after buying Golf du Médoc Resort, France, and converting it to Cabot Bordeaux to establish its first property in continental Europe, Cabot announced a strong investment in Lofoten Links, a magical place on the coast of Norway, where the summer rounds are played. under the midnight sun.
Those moves added to a rapidly growing portfolio that includes Cabot St. Lucia; Canada’s Cabot Revelstoke; The Cabot Highlands in Scotland; and our November/December 2024 GOLF cover story, Florida’s Cabot Citrus Farms, starting at No. that also has two short sporty courses. Everything is like motivation. It’s time to start planning our own experiments.
