Fans of the Apple TV+ program To All Humanity received some very good news earlier this year. Not only will this show return for the fifth season, which is called Star City was in the works, telling the story from the Russian point of view. It was an interesting proposition, but a curious one. The Russians are already playing a major role in the To All Humanity. How would it all work?
In a new interview with Collider, one of the show’s producers, Ronald D. Moore, explained in detail. “We’re in the process of writing a spinoff series, which is Star City, which is very exciting,” said Moore. “I’m very happy that Apple was supporting that whole idea and doing it and telling the story from the cosmonaut’s point of view and how the Russians got to the moon first and what it was like to work on that program.”
Moore goes on to explain what will separate the two stories. “I didn’t know much about the Russian space program before I started this project,” he said. “It was a good thing they did. The spacecraft was not as reliable as ours. They have lost many good people to them. The conditions were difficult. They also have things like the presence of the KGB and it’s always in mission control, so there’s a lot of spies and Cold War stuff that you’re dealing with in that particular show. So, it’s a common story about bystander narratives Mankind. They know the Soviets got there first and they know they have a strong space program in some of our history, but certainly details How this show worked and what it was like to be inside that show, I think it will be very exciting for the audience.”
With Star City it is still in the writing stage, not all the details are set. For example, Moore isn’t sure how the language barrier will be handled. But he pointed out that they have a bigger picture of where they can go. “We have a way,” he said. “We have a familiar arc. It’s probably not as detailed as we started with To All Humanitybut we have a general kind of say, ‘Okay, here’s the structure of how this would play out in a few seasons.'”
And, yes, Star City what is most important will follow To All Humanity device to jump forward in time each season. “I’m not sure [how long] jumping will be,” he said. “We know that we will pass in time. We haven’t reached that point yet. It’s probably still in the middle of ten, though, so skip ahead. We don’t really know what we’re going to do Mankind pigeons or we will try to split them in half.”
But it’s still a format that works for us and makes it a unique part of this universe. It also allows their space program to improve. That’s why we did it humanity, so that you can see progress in stages instead of being stuck in a limited period where there really won’t be any big change.”
