PXG announces Gen7, Black Ops hardware, Sugar Daddy III wedges
Ryan Barath
In a surprise reveal this week, PXG, Parsons Extreme Golf, announced their latest game-enhancing irons for the 0311 Gen7 and Black Ops and the highly anticipated Sugar Daddy III wedges.
Although no internal technical specifications of the instruments have been made public, early images provide some insight into the popular 0311 instrument line and what kind of improvements have been made.
What we know
The new 0311 Gen7 irons continue the look and aggressive style of PXG irons.
The highlight of the 0311P and 0311XP Gen7 is the signature titanium ring around the center weight that is used to fine tune the swing weight and feel. Considering titanium’s lightweight nature and high strength compared to iron we can assume that this change was made to maintain mass and increase MOI by placing more weight on the heel and toe of the irons.
Unlike the 0311P and XP hardware, Black Ops appears to be an independent game development offering that will complement the Black Ops hardware. Based on the lack of hosel branding it is possible that the Black Ops irons are made using the same body construction and will be offered at a lower price than the new Gen7.
Finally, the 0311 Sugar Daddy III wedges appear to be an evolution of the popular fully milled line by offering more milling options and a new cavity design on the back of the club to shift weight to the head for more stability and spin control.
PXG 0311 Black Ops Custom Driver
$599.99
The AMF Face Technology PXG 0311 Black Ops Drivers deliver the benefits of greater distance using a superior fit strength, and more flexible, Titanium Alloy face material that supports increased face deflection during impact. High Strength Composite Construction The lightweight crown and inserts only, made of high quality carbon fiber using advanced compression molding, enable proper weight distribution on the clubhead. This improves the moment of inertia (MOI), shifting the center of gravity (CG) lower and farther back, resulting in improved distance and forgiveness. Non-Uniform Bulge and Roll Face The face design supports improved forgiveness and improves overall performance by improving the club’s response to off-center hits.

The first warrior tradition continues
As with previous releases, PXG is continuing its tradition of offering exclusive access and purchase access to the new bars and wedges to all current and former employees, veterans, and first responders prior to the full public launch on August 7.
“We are always looking for ways to recognize and show appreciation for our military and first responders,” said PXG founder and CEO Bob Parsons. “These new clubs stand out – the biggest step forward in technology and performance we’ve ever made. Ahead of the launch, we are proud to give our heroes the first chance to swing them!”
