Today’s Live Scores: Conceicao Vs. Foster II from Verona

Robson Conceicao defends his WBC super featherweight title against former champion O’Shaquie Foster tonight in a 12-round bout at the Top Rank-promoted event in Verona, New York.

Undercard results

– Middleweight Jahi Tucker (13-1-1, 6 KOs) scored a controversial eighth round knockout over Quilisto Madera (14-6, 9 KOs). Tucker, 21, injured Madera by hitting him in the head with a right hand while he was still moving, forcing him to hold on to prevent himself from falling. Madera fell to the ropes after the referee separated himself.

The referee, Charlie Fitch, then took a quick look at Madera’s condition, which was not good, and waved it off. It looked like Madera, 32, could have continued, but Fitch wasn’t taking any chances. The stoppage time was 1:52 into the round.

Tucker was pinned in the eighth round by retaliating with multiple punches after being hit with a rabbit punch by Madera. The referee tried several times to get Tucker to stop throwing the shot, but he wouldn’t listen.

In the sixth round, Madera landed some big shots to the head of Tucker, who looked in a bad shape. Tucker kept throwing slap shots, which were no match for the heavier ones that Madera was hitting.

– Heavyweight prospect Ali Feliz (4-0, 3 KOs) destroyed Rashad Coulter (5-5) by knockout. Feliz hurt Coulter, 42, with a right hand to the back of the head in the second round, sending him back to the ropes.

Meanwhile, Feliz chased Coulter’s defense with punches to the arms to get the referee to stop. Coulter never tried to stop the fight or throw anything, which left the referee with no choice but to stop the contest. The official stoppage time was 1:34.

Feliz hurt Coulter in the first round when he nailed her with a right hook, but was unable to finish the job. In the final seconds of the round, Feliz unloaded a shot on Coulter while she was tied up in the ropes. During the chaos, Feliz was showing off his boat to let the crown know how easy the war was for him.

Given the low level of Feliz’s opponent, it was a tall order to see him drive the boy crazy. If this was an elite-heavyweight, that’s one thing, but mocking the 42-year-old was looking at Feliz’s side.

In the next bout, undefeated Raymond Muratalla will face Jesus Perez in a 10-round bout. Muratalla (21-0, 16 KOs) needs a strong showing after his impressive performance against Tevin Farmer on July 13.

Foster needs a strong showing if he is to win tonight against 2016 Olympic gold medalist Conceicao.

The fight is in New York, and the fans are waiting to be entertained. Foster’s style is a 100% copy of Shakur Stevenson’s, with the three-step pullback he uses. That approach does not work for fans and judges.

Indeed, Foster was booed by fans during his fight with Conceicao last July at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. East Coast fans don’t enjoy watching fighters who use Foster’s hit-and-don’t-hit style. He says he will be very strong in this fight, but we will see tonight.

Foster (22-3, 12 KOs) was given a quick rematch due to fan complaints over Conceicao’s questionable 12-round split decision loss (19-2-1, 9 KOs) on July 13. It was a fight where Foster focused on defense and was finished by Conceicao.

Tonight’s event begins at 10:00 pm ET on ESPN and ESPN+.
