With his win on Wednesday at the Rolex Paris Masters, Alexander Zverev became the fourth player to reach the Last 16 of all nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments in one season in the series’ history. The third seed hit a milestone with a 7-6(2), 6-3 victory over Tallon Griekspoor in his opening match, his fifth consecutive Lexus ATP Head2Head win against the Dutchman and fourth of the season.
Zverev, who won his sixth ATP Masters 1000 title in Rome in May, is now 19-1 in matches to open the year. The German fought a break point in his first two service game against Griekspoor, then later fought a set point at 4-5, but hit a move from there to break away. Starting with that save point, she won 16 straight service points to close out the opening set and get off to a fast start in the second.

Zverev won his only break point of the match to go 4-2 up in the second – an advantage he saw well behind his 86 per cent winning average. Both players won more than 80 percent of their points in the first match, according to Infosys ATP Stats.
The German will next meet #NextGenATP Frenchman Arthur Fils to book a place in the quarter-finals. The 20-year-old beat Marin Cilic and Jan-Lennard Struff to win his first major at the Rolex Paris Masters. Zverev and Fils split the previous two Lexus ATP Head2Head meetings this season, with Zverev winning on the grass in Halle and Fils taking the final match on the clay in Hamburg. Both matches went to three sets.
Alex de Minaur beat Miomir Kecmanovic 6-4, 7-6(5) on Wednesday to strengthen his bid to qualify for his first Nitto ATP Finals match. Hoping to become the first Australian to play in a Nitto ATP final since Lleyton Hewitt in 2004, the 25-year-old is now set to overtake Andrey Rublev for the all-important eighth spot in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin – although Grigor Dimitrov and Stefanos Tsitsipas is also within striking distance of De Minaur. Rublev was eliminated in Paris by Francisco Cerundolo on Tuesday, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5).
De Minaur is through to the last 16 in Paris for the fifth time in six appearances, with his best showing a quarter-final in 2023.
