147-lb Champions Seek Big Fight Against Jaron Ennis

The 147 champs are looking to take on IBF welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis at Unication Fights. Ennis is too dangerous, and other champions don’t want to take less than a big buck in a fight they think they can win.

Boot’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has shown no willingness to pay the champions the money they want. It costs money to set up these fights, and Boots (32-0, 29 KOs) has yet to be a PPV attraction. To entice these champions to take a fight they know they can’t win, Hearn will need to pay more money, and he hasn’t shown the willingness to do that.

Unless Hearn is willing to start investing in Ennis to make these fights turn him into a star, he needs to give up his dream of becoming the undisputed champion.

It is not that the champions are asking for the King’s pardon for fighting Ennis. What’s more is that they feel it’s better to hold on to their titles and wait until His Excellency Turki Alalshikh approaches them to offer them more money to fight on one of his Riyadh Season cards.
