He said it was on TV so it might make it legal. Sony recently announced the untitled Spider Man The film, starring Tom Holland and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, will be released on July 24, 2026.
The news comes on the heels of a media round where Holland has been discussing his new non-alcoholic beer, where he is frequently asked Spider-Man 4. Finally, it’s on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallonhe just said “It’s happening.” Now it has a release date and it is official that Cretton, who helped Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings of Marvel Studios, will ride.
After the great success of 2021 Spider-Man: No Way Homeeveryone knew that another sequel would follow. It was worth it. But that film not only put Holland’s character Peter Parker in a new context (unknown to everyone who knows him thanks to Doctor Strange) but also marked the end of Holland’s connection. That gave him the power for the character to use, making sure that if he was going to return to Spider-Man, he was doing it for the right reasons.
“When I signed my contract [the first] Spider ManI signed a six-picture deal,” Holland said recently. “I was 18 years old. I was more excited than anything I’ve ever been, and for the last 10 years I’ve been in the headlines for Marvel and Sony and proudly so. It has been the highlight of my life. Now I’m in a position where I can say ‘No,’ and given that power I’m having a hard time figuring out what to do. It means I’ve had to put my foot down in certain situations, which I wasn’t allowed to do in the past, and I think the learning curve I’m on right now is dealing with that new sense of power— making sure I don’t abuse it, but [also] to make sure I’m doing the best thing for the studio. And the best thing about the character. I don’t want to make another film to do it.”
He said he liked where it was written and, this week it continued The Tonight Showconfirmed that filming will take place in the summer of 2025.
The summer of 2026 is now shaping up to be one of the wildest summers in recent memory. In addition to Spider-Man 4there is Avengers: Doomsdaythere is The Mandalorian and the Grogunew films from Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan (the latter will star Holland), Toy story 5, Shrek 5 again Supergirl. Wow.
