Looking for a better contact? Stop making this ‘big mistake’

There are so many important aspects of the golf swing, but one of the most important is when the swing arm is in the backswing and coming down at impact.
For example, if the path arm in the golf swing is too far back, you get “stuck” and tend to hook the ball. If the trailing arm is too far forward, it leads to an over-tilt, which leads to wear.
A common “solution” to this is the belief that you need to bend the trail arm to your side during your ride and when you dismount. For many beginners, this helps them keep the club on the plane so they can communicate in the middle.
But GOLF Top 100 instructor Kevin Sprecher says it’s time to put the myth to rest and explain what to do instead. Check out the video below.
Where the fairway arm should be in the golf swing
We’re all guilty of taking golf advice from our friends – especially during a round when we’re not having the best day to hit the ball. So, somewhere along the way, most of us probably started to move the arm of the lane closer to the body, as mentioned, which should help keep the clubhead behind the hands for better contact.
But Sprecher says this is a “big mistake” he sees in many of his students.
“They are trying to keep their own [trail] arm against [trail] On the back side,” said Sprecher. “Or they try to keep it [in that same position] as they will come down.”
Instead, Sprecher says the trail arm should have plenty of fluid during the go and back, which helps increase your chances of getting more speed.
“Yours [trail arm] it needs to float the backswing a little, and it needs to break away from yours [trail side] less if you want to generate any power. If you keep your own [trail] arm against you [trail] if you look closely, you tend to put the club inside,” said Sprecher. “It is also difficult to get rid of it when you are faced with it [your trail side] too much.”
While he admits that the trail arm gets closer to the lane, Sprecher thinks it should happen naturally based on your swing motion and alignment, not because of a preconceived notion that it should be in that exact spot.
“Yes, the [trail] arm approaches to [trail] side in the swing, but it is a function of your movement,” he said. “If I wanted to throw this club away, I would find mine [trail] the arm [higher up in the backswing] for there to be a separation. Then I can get more reduction to generate some power. “
Sprecher suggests abandoning the idea of pulling your arm and recommends taking swings to release your natural athleticism, which will then determine the correct arm position for the track during your swing sequence.
“If I keep it [tucked] I go backwards, I can’t generate energy, and I tend to do the opposite by throwing it [out-to-in],” he adds. “So I don’t think it’s a good idea to do that [tuck the trail arm against your trail side]. Instead, make some practice adjustments, separate your hands from the club, and see where you belong [trail] the arm arrives. Your body will tell you where to be, and if you follow the right sequence, you will do the right thing. ”
