Zoe Saldaña Would Do Things Differently With Gamora If Given The Chance
It has become a pastime for Marvel fans around the world to dream that they will change, adapt, or present various narrative threads in the cinematic realm of the blockbuster franchise. While much of this processing tends to depend on what-if the circumstances aren’t the same as Marvel’s proper title. What if? Disney+ show, Guardians of the Galaxy actress Zoe Saldaña has come forward with her post-snap epiphany about the universe’s deadliest assassin, Gamora.
In a recent Variety YouTube video, where she was tested on her knowledge of lines from her large portfolio of popular films, Saldaña reflected on her role as Gamora and expressed a desire to go deeper with her character. In particular, Saldaña felt she had no rudder in how she would portray Gamora in the future They don’t take revenge movies and you wish you had explored more aspects of the character you are Avengers: Endgame.
“I wish I could go back and reshoot what Gamora was going through in the game They don’t take revenge movies,” Saldaña told Variety. “I don’t think I misunderstood what the Russo Brothers were saying [were doing].”
Saldaña’s confusion with Gamora’s character is completely understandable when you consider that her character not only met death after being thrown off a cliff by her father, Thanos, but also continued to exist in another version of the timeline herself. This decision led director James Gunn to adjust the pieces Guardians of the Galaxy 3 by making it clear that his development is delayed. After having time away from all the action, Saldaña wishes she could turn back time and explore Gamora’s tumultuous family relationship with Thanos.
“I wish I could go back and do it again so I could push it a little bit, because it was a good opportunity to play a daughter with problems with her father,” she said. “And whether he gets this opportunity to reconcile or heal or make amends or just walk away from this person—that would have been a great opportunity if I had known better at the time.”
He continued: “I wish I could go back and try many other things for him,” he said. “[Gamora] it was a really fun character to play, but also a really deep character… I know it’s a Marvel movie and we don’t like to use words like ‘deep’ and ‘Marvel’ in the same sentence, but I love it and I take it. I’m proud to know that I’m a part of great films that cater to a young audience, that inspire a young audience.”
Instead of harping on what could have been and what his character ended up being Guardians 3Saldaña expressed gratitude for his experience working with Gunn and transforming its characters from deep Marvel legends to household names.
“We were supposed to be the ones who came with childhood trauma and disabilities and mental problems,” Saldaña said. “And you gave these characters the opportunity to be loved, to learn about self-love, to love each other, to find a family within their friendship. It was actually a very important film now that I look back. “
