Real-Time Biometric Verification of NEC for Congested Spaces
NEC showcased its security system advancements at CEATEC 2024 by showcasing the latest version of its state-of-the-art biometric authentication system that combines world-leading technology with iris recognition.
This system is designed for high security applications such as access control to critical infrastructure, data centers, and places where normal facial recognition may be difficult, such as in food processing plants and medical facilities where people wear personal protective equipment. It also has potential for point-of-sale locations that require quick and accurate customer verification for payment processing.
The core of the program lies in its dual biometric capabilities (face+iris). The NEC algorithm simultaneously processes data from the face and both needles, improving accuracy and reducing the risk of impersonation, even with printed or photographic images. The system is designed to work in a variety of conditions, including dim lighting and when people wear helmets, masks, or gloves, making it highly versatile across different industries.
One of the notable advantages of NEC technology is its ease of use. It automatically adjusts the camera position to accommodate the person being scanned and completes the authentication process in about two seconds, providing a seamless and clean solution. This makes it especially important where hands may be busy or need to be kept clean, such as in hospitals or food production facilities.
If it works or wear hats, caps and sunglasses!
The system also boasts flexibility and scalability. It can be seamlessly integrated into existing infrastructures using the REST API and standard VESA sockets for easy installation in floor, wall-mounted, or desktop installations. It is dustproof and splash-proof, allowing for use in covered outdoor areas.
A unique feature of this technology is its ability to verify up to 100 people per minute in real time, even in crowded situations. It continuously tracks and recognizes individuals based on facial and body characteristics, ensuring smooth and congestion-free entry without requiring people to pass through gates one at a time.
NEC’s biometric solution stands out for its high accuracy, speed, and flexibility, making it suitable for a wide range of high-security and high-volume applications.
