Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will go ahead without any story DLC
Last year, Insomniac Games was released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It was a good time when all was said and done, and it left a lot of story threads hanging that left the window open for DLC to explore, but no follow-up is on the way.
During the Marvel Games panel at New York Comic-Con, it was announced Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will arrive on PC on January 30, 2025, and remarkably, there are no plans for any post-launch adventures. On the PlayStation Blog, senior community manager Jason Espinoza confirmed that Insomniac has “no additional story planned.” This is surprising for several reasons, the first of which is the first Spider Man the game had three post-launch story packs starring side characters such as Black Cat and Yuri Watanabe, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It wouldn’t be wrong to think that something is on the cards for this game.
Another reason to catch players by surprise is last year’s Insomniac Hack. A lot of information from that hack was circulated online, including rumors of a possible story expansion spider-man 2, or some kind of independent follow-up like this Miles. Since then, players have been led to believe that something is on the cards, despite Insomniac itself never saying or indicating that such a thing would happen. But this new PS Blog officially kills those dreams, because it can only mean one thing: Insomniac has gone full steam ahead. Marvel’s Wolverine, which it said shortly after the hack that it would share more information when the time was right.
With The Wolverine now takes the focus of Insomniac until its final release, webheads fans will have to wait for the next part of Spider Man the universe to be revealed. When will that be? That’s for Insomniac and PlayStation to decide.
