Gary Russell Jr. Criticizes Tank Davis And Devin Haney

Gary Russell Jr. spoke to Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney in an interview, and dismissed them as weak. Former featherweight champion Russell says ‘regular’ WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) is “playing” the public, “picking and choosing” weak opposition instead of the fights fans want to see. This is to ensure that the Tank is not hit.

Tank Davis has been holding the second WBA lightweight belt for years, which has made him immune to the risks he would have had to face if he held the big title.

Russell doesn’t think much of Tank’s latest opponent, Lamont Roach, who was drafted into the super featherweight division. He says Thange is trying

“Tank is fighting that many people [fans] don’t want to see him fight anyway. I could have seen that coming,” Gary Russell Jr. said. speaking to Fighthype, in response to Gervonta Davis choosing Lamont Roach in the super featherweight division rather than lightweight.

Gervonta has battled backlash from fans who weren’t interested in seeing him through his 11-year career. The only instance where he fought someone the fans wanted to see was when he fought Ryan Garcia, and that was considered a disqualification. Whatever chance Ryan had of winning, Tank’s weight holding him in the contract wore him down.

“I don’t think he can do that for a long time. I believe the fans and the social media are like you who have a platform and the ability to push,” Russell said when asked how much longer Tank Davis can get away with weak opposition throwing rocks the way he did throughout his 11 years. – the work of the year.

Tank will likely face soft opposition until his retirement because he doesn’t bring in big PPV numbers, and has a loyal following. They don’t care that he doesn’t fight big teams because most of them don’t know anything about this sport.

As far as they are concerned, Lamont Roach is at the top. However, fighting the type of opposition that Tank has faced since becoming champion in 2013 will see him drop PPV numbers for the rest of his career. He will never be the person who brings in 1 million buyers because he does not fight against the opposition that people want to see.

“All of you who are beaten with bamboo. “You want to see the best compete against the best, and the people you feel are the best, they’re not trying to compete with the best,” Russell said. “They prefer to fight someone they don’t even know. You’ve never heard of them.”

If Tank’s management cared about matching him with the best, he would be fighting Edwin De Los Santos on December 14th, not Lamont Roach. He was going to fight Vasily Lomachenko in 2017 when he was first called by him.

“Everybody says, ‘Mah, why is he fighting for this person?’ Nah, that [stuff] it is very difficult for them. Your favorite fighters are suckers here. That is true. Time for that. It’s not an idea. The tank is picky and picky. I always say, ‘It’s nothing personal,’ but Tank has to take it personally when I say, I think he’s human [wimp] because you are fighting a person who is not a dog.

“I don’t want to tarnish Lamont Roach’s reputation. I know Lamong Roach. He is a good boy. I know his father. They’re all cool, but there are levels to everything. Don’t think you’re fighting a local and make it seem like Baltimore is competing against some local dog.

“You pick and choose. Sometimes, when does pride, when does honesty come in and say, ‘I really want to see if I’m as good as I really think? I want to try to do better.’ Where is that in sports today?

“If both are 100% healthy. I don’t think Lamont has a chance to win this fight. In my opinion, I don’t think Lamont will win this fight. It will be interesting in the first half of the fight. In the last part of the battle, Tank will start moving him down and start touching him. KO or TKO, one of the two,” said Russell Jr. about the outcome of the battle of Tank vs. Roach.

“It will be a kind of money laundering in Lamont. You will earn some money, but it is not a defining job [stuff]. Tank fighting Lamont Roach is not a career-defining battle. It’s not a fight where people will think you’re in danger or Lamont is a danger to him.

“I don’t think that is the way of men. That’s fun [stuff],” Russell Jr said about Devin Haney suing Ryan Garcia. “I think that’s sucka [stuff] on behalf of Haney or Bill. I don’t think Devin is doing it for himself. I’m sure his father is behind the scenes or in front of the scenes doing that [stuff].

“But I don’t think it’s the way of men. We are two rivals. We are two fighters. I personally do not believe that taking steroids or whatever it was that Ryan allegedly had. It doesn’t help with your actual skills. If you are a bum a** fighter and you are taking steroids or taking performance enhancing drugs. Please believe that he will still be a bum a** fighter,” said Russell.

Gary thinks Devin’s father, Bill Haney, came up with the idea to file a lawsuit against Ryan. If that was the case, Devin should be thinking about setbacks and negative consequences for his career, such as losing a rematch against Garcia. It doesn’t take a genius to predict what will happen if Haney sues Ryan. Anyone can figure that out in a second and say, ‘No, that’s a dumb idea.’

“You will be able to make a bummy [stuff] long before you get tired. It doesn’t help you become a better fighter. So, to take Ryan to court. I think it’s some sucka [stuff],” Russell said.

Almost the entire boxing world is ripping newbie Devin Haney for his decision to sue Ryan Garcia because of his good test with Ostarine. This case led to Haney’s popularity falling even further than it already was after his loss to Ryan last April, but worse than that he is not getting a rematch.

Ryan has already released that. Therefore, Haney’s case would have to bring in the kind of money he would get in a rematch to be profitable.

Even if it brings Haney the same amount of money, his career won’t benefit as much if he were to fight Ryan in a rematch and beat him. That would mean Haney is back to where he was before his loss last April. But his offense wasted that opportunity.
