Bad news and good news, One piece fans: the anime is taking a break from its current arc until next spring. But it’s making up for that long hiatus by going back to its past with some cool new looks.
Toei Animation has revealed that it is pausing production and airing new episodes of the current saga “Egghead” after today’s episode. The game won’t return until April 2025, when it will have a new timeslot going forward. As for when exactly it will return, Toei said it will reveal that location on Sunday, December 22 at Jump Festa 2025.
But the fact that “Egghead” is on the ice does not mean One Piece’s the anime is totally moving. Next week on October 20, there will be a special 25th anniversary episode focusing on the Straw Hats reuniting after two years apart. The twist? They will be explored through the eyes of several NPCs (non-villain characters), including a little girl who is a big fan of sailor Nami. Then on October 27, the rescheduled cut of “Fish-Man Island Saga” (aka, episodes 517-541, then 543-574) will start from then until Sunday, March 30, 2025. This is summarized, “special 21 -episode ending” will feature reshot scenes and completely new animation episodes, as well as a new opening (“We’re going!” by Kitadani Hiroshi) and ending (“Sailing” by BE:FIRST) done in the show’s current visual style.
Despite being an abbreviated version of the long saga of the original anime, the remake of “Fish-Man” seems to have been completely cut from WIT Studio’s future. One piece remakes in the works on Netflix. That exhibition is also intended to provide a brief account of this great, It’s a 1,122-episode story, though WIT hasn’t decided how it’s going to go about summarizing. Still, they’ll be there at least One piece to watch between now and the show’s full return in April.
