World No.4 Coco Gauff will make her United Cup debut for Team USA alongside No.7 and US Open finalist Taylor Fritz in the mixed team event in 2025.

The 20-year-old Gauff, who carried the flag for the United States at the Paris Olympics, is thriving in the team environment.

“It will be the first time I play in the United Cup, so I am very happy to start the year in Australia,” said Gauff. “It’s always an honor to represent my country.”

“It’s a really fun event. I had a lot of fun playing mixed doubles at the Olympics so I want to do that again.

“I have never been to other parts of Australia, apart from Melbourne. I don’t know which city we will play in but I am very excited to go to Perth or Sydney.”

World No.3 Alexander Zverev, who helped guide Team Germany to a memorable victory over Poland to secure a second United Cup title, has used the event to build a great season, including deep runs at Grand Slams and Roland Garros. last time.

The 27-year-old, who holds 22 ATP titles, is looking forward to his third appearance at the tournament.

“It’s the first week of the year… and we all want to be in Australia and play with the best players in the world and that’s what the United Cup brings,” Zverev said.

The unique team atmosphere that the United Cup offers is a big incentive for Leylah Fernandez and Felix Auger-Aliassime who are scheduled for Team Canada again in 2025.

“I want to play United Cup 2025 because it’s a fun team experience,” said Fernandez, who reached the US Open final in 2021.

“I love being part of the team… I get to see a little bit of the men’s side of the team and how they think on the court, I get to pick their brains a little bit.

“I am also thinking about cooperation between all of us [is special]we grew up together so it’s good to have that time to be together.”

Auger-Aliassime agrees, “It’s a great way to start the year,” he said.

“I have had great success [playing for my country] and meeting Leylah, always good. I like his energy, I like his game so it’s going to be very interesting.

“It’s actually my favorite thing, some of my favorite weeks of the trip [playing as part of a team].”

Greece’s (12) Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari, China’s (7) Zheng Qinwen and Norway’s Casper Ruud (9) have committed to the third edition of the tournament in September.

From Friday 27 December to Sunday 5 January, 18 countries, including three men and up to three women, will compete in Perth and Sydney.

United’s Cup Director Stephen Farrow is delighted to have five more players commit to the tournament at an early stage.

“German world number 3 Alexander Zverev, a two-time Grand Slam finalist and Tokyo Olympic gold medalist, always brings momentum to the United Cup and there is no doubt that the defending champions will be ready to go into the first week of the new year.

“We are also delighted to welcome Leylah Fernandez and Felix Auger-Aliassime back to the event in 2025. Canadian fans came out in droves earlier this year and we look forward to seeing them in their national colors again to support the team’s next campaign. “

The participation of the first 16 teams in the United Cup depends on the players who commit themselves by the competition’s deadline of 16 October. The remaining two teams will be decided after the second qualifying day on November 19.

The official draw will be held on 21 October and will determine where each country will play in the group stage.

Ten countries will enter the United Cup using the top five men’s and five top women’s entries based on their PIF ATP and WTA rankings.

The eight teams will be entered according to the best combined ranking of the highest ranked men’s and women’s players from the same country.
