Facing the fallout from Hurricane Helene that dumped rain all weekend in Cincinnati, Xavier found himself having to adapt to its fall schedule. Specifically, an exhibition game against West Virginia on Saturday, September 29 that was supposed to be played more or less at home in nearby Mason, Ohio, ended up being moved to Morgantown at the last minute to avoid what would otherwise have been a blackout.
The result saw WVU win both nine-inning games between the teams by scores of 5-4 and 9-4, but as is always true in the fall, for Xavier it.[…]
