Twenty-five years ago, at the height of his power, Kevin Smith took on God. After his biggest hit yet, Firing AmySmith tackles his biggest film to date, with a star-studded cast, about a topic that makes many people angry: religion. “The film was bought from someone who had it for years and stuff,” Smith said. “The company that bought us, we met a few months ago. They were like, ‘Would you like to release it again and tour it like you do with your movies?’ I said ‘100 percent, are you kidding me? Going to a movie I know people love, and it’s compassionate and absurd? We’ll clean up.’ Currently, 2024 is our 25th year this year. November is when we come out. I think 2025 looks like that’s when the movement will happen. I’m going back to home video, and I’m going to go back to the theaters, I’m going to watch it.”
So there you go. Although it will be difficult to do something on the actual date of the 25th, which is November, Smith sees 2025 as the year to deliver Doctrine back in a big way.
