How former NBA player Blake Griffin became obsessed with golf

It seems like every celebrity is taking up golf these days. From Jimmy Fallon to Travis Kelce and even Niall Horan, it sounds like everyone has the golf bug.
As of a few years ago, you can add former NBA champion Blake Griffin to that list.
Griffin, a six-time NBA All-Star, explained in this week’s episode of Subpar GOLF that as he reached the last few years of his career, he decided he needed a place to compete outside of basketball.
“I was like me, brother the need it’s a competitive place,” he said. “Or I could be a psychopath.”
That output turned out to be in links.
“I’m not going to make a decision,” Griffin said. “I went to prepare for other clubs. I didn’t really have a swing – or a good swing, I still don’t – but I played my first round and probably shot 120-somethin’. I was like, ‘No, I have to be better at this. I’m just not going to be this bad.’”
So far, he has found success in that campaign. Just three years after taking up the game, Griffin has already seen his handicap index drop to 13. This past summer, he even notched his first victory on the celebrity circuit as he won the 8AM Invitational in Las Vegas.
“I have days when I’m like, ‘Man, this feels good,'” he said. “And then I have days where I’m like, ‘I I won’t.’”
That is true everything golfers are not related.
