DC Comics Reveals New Complete Batman Details
Last week, DC Comics teased more details about its upcoming Absolute comics, which aim to reintroduce classic DC characters with new, updated origins and situations. While it officially has something to do with Darkseid, the big draw is the new look for Batman (beefy!), Superman (long hair!), and Wonder Woman (sword!).
It was the Dark Knight that raised many eyebrows as often, Bruce is smaller than the gargantuan mammoth of Absolute Batman. During today’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Snyder shared new details on his and Nick Dragotta’s. Absolute Batman comic will be released in October. If you’re a size person, Snyder revealed that this version of Bruce is a 6’2, 250-pound 20-something who is a crime-fighter. And instead of pretending to be a rich socialite, she’ll be Gotham’s city engineer. And a French bulldog owner!
Snyder wasn’t kidding when he called this a “top-to-bottom remake” of the character. While shedding some light on the plot details, he also revealed that the main character of the book (at least for now) will be Black Mask, and Alfred Pennyworth will be the book’s POV character. As an adult, this Alfred (or rather, “Penny”) is not, and has never been, a butler. Instead he’s an MI-6 spy and an “old guard of the empire” who is so tireless that he can’t handle Batman in the arena.
After Snyder, Jason Aaron talked about himself and Rafa Sandoval Absolute Superman. After approaching Snyder to make the jump to DC from Marvel, Aaron decided he “really wanted” to do the Man of Steel and cooked up a new take on the character. He confirmed that his goal was not to change the core of the hero, but to “look at it [his] original concepts and ask what they would be like if they were created today.” This new Superman is without his old support system of the Kent family, the Fortress of Isolation, and he is homeless. For Aaron, the Absolute universe draws so much that the Trinity is separated from each other. “Things didn’t go the way they were supposed to,” he said. “That left Superman a little lonely, a little angry … and sexy, if you ask me.”
Finally, Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman Absolute Wonder Woman you’ll see Diana as “the last Amazon and the first warrior,” Sherman said. Of the three, he has the most interesting look with his arm tattoos and big-ass sword. In addition to being a hero, he is also a witch who grew up in hell “armed with teeth.” […] He is a fire under.” If that wasn’t steel enough, his dark winged skeleton horse might seal the deal. The agreement with Diana and what disputes she will face are currently being wrapped up.
Along with the Trinity, there is a fourth Of course letter on the way. Come early 2025, Jeff Lemire and Nick Robles will be introduced Absolute Flash in the world, although the panel did not provide details other than its presence:
