Bill Haney On Oscar De La Hoya: “The Case Stands”

By Robbie Bannatyne – 10/01/2024 – Comment

Bill Haney took to social media today to inform promoter Oscar De La Hoya that his son Devin Haney’s lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia is “still standing.”

Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) is accusing Ryan of a doping violation in their April 20 fight, in which Garcia tested positive for a banned substance.

Haney, 25, has not said what his plans are for his career or if he will fight again. If this is focused on Devin, hoping to make a big hit with his offense, he could be disappointed if it fails. By now, former two-division world champion Haney should have signed on to fight again.

Some fans feel that he has given up and will be hanging up his gloves. He took a nasty blow from Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs), falling multiple times in a 12-decision loss.

According to Garcia, a repeat is no longer an option. He wants nothing to do with Haney because of his guilt.

“Oscar De La [Hoya] everyone get out. Gennadiy Golovkin sued you, and Ryan Garcia threatened to sue you. There’s no need for me to sit down with you and do nothing,” said Bill Haney on social media, in response to Oscar De La Hoya telling X that he would help the Haneys understand Ryan Garcia’s fight contract last April.

“I see you tweet a lot, but you don’t talk. Maybe there is something you need to fix. The case stands,” said Bill.

If Haney continues his career, he will have to try to bounce back from his loss at 147 years old. That’s going to be hard for him to do because that’s a tough team to compete against for fighters who don’t have the strength and the strong chin. Haney may be the equivalent of a fish meal at welterweight, and he won’t last long in this weight class.
