Who are the top 10 heavyweight competitors in the world today?
IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois defended his title for the first time when he knocked out Anthony Joshua on September 21. Out of the gate Dubois looked sharp and composed, and he controlled the fight from start to finish, dropping Joshua four times along the way, the last one earning him a wonderful and wonderful victory. This victory shook the world of heavyweight, where Joshua was considered by many as a Top 3 heavyweight. That is no longer the case, however.
The current reigning heavyweight champion is Oleksandr Usyk. In his most recent fight in May, Usyk was awarded a 12-round split decision against Tyson Fury. That victory earned Usyk the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, and Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion since the great Lennox Lewis held that distinction nearly 20 years ago. A little over a month after winning the vacant title, Usyk vacated the IBF title, which belonged to Usyk’s former victim, Dubois.
Usyk is the WBA/WBO/WBC alternate champion and lineal world heavyweight champion, and his next fight is scheduled for December 21, and that fight will be broadcast on DAZN.

2024 is shaping up to be a good year for heavyweight boxing, one of the best years in a very long time. More top heavyweights are always facing other top heavyweights, and this is a good thing in the heavyweight division. Turki Al-Sheikh deserves a lot of credit here, as his passion for boxing helped film many fights that we would not have seen otherwise, and this was especially true in the heavyweight division. I hope that Turki will continue to invest in heavyweight boxing (and boxing in general) where fans will be given the opportunity to see interesting fights that are much needed.
